What documents do I need to apply?
A current contractor license, COI for general liability insurance, your SAM.gov UEI, and any certification documents (MBE/WBE/DBE, Davis-Bacon training, OSHA 30, etc.).
How long does verification take?
Verified tier reviews complete in 5–7 business days from receipt of all required documents.
Can I upgrade my tier later?
Yes — upgrade any time. You pay the prorated difference and we begin verification immediately.
What if my license expires?
Your Verified badge is suspended pending updated documentation. You will get reminders 60, 30, and 7 days before expiration.
Does BuildersPass guarantee me projects or payment?
No. BuildersPass is a verification and directory platform. We do not guarantee project awards, contract awards, or payment from any developer, agency, or general contractor. Your membership gets you verified status and directory visibility — winning work still depends on your bids, relationships, and performance.
Is there a refund policy?
Memberships are refundable within a 7-day cancellation window. After that, fees are non-refundable per our Terms of Service.
What BuildersPass verifies — and what we don't
We verify
- Subcontractor trade license number
- License is active in the state(s) the sub claims to operate in
- Business is currently registered and in good standing in that state
We do not
- • Vet, screen, or rate contractors or owners/developers who use the database.
- • Guarantee quality of work, schedule performance, or fit for any specific project.
- • Handle, process, mediate, or guarantee payments between builders and subcontractors. Contracts and payment terms are strictly between the two parties.
BuildersPass is a verification and discovery directory. Hiring decisions, contracts, insurance review, and payment are the responsibility of the contracting parties.
